We are working with a Public Sector client based in Manchester who are on the look for a Service Improvement Consultant for a permanent role they have which has a maximum salary of £55,000.00 with a 15% flex fund on offer. This role will be based permanently in Salford, Manchester.

Our client is seeking exceptional highly motivated individuals who can significantly contribute to the positive reputation and growth of our consulting business. Your experience will allow you to develop service improvement and contracting strategies together with and on behalf of our customers clients. Your track record of excellent delivery and your positive relationship with extensive contacts will enable our client to secure new business.

The post holder will be focused on service delivery and strategic growth with the following key principles (The role will report to Head of Procurement / Service Improvement Consultancy):

  1. Provide a consultancy service that makes a significant impact on the quality, safety and efficiency of services for patients, carers and the public
  2. Provide high quality customer focused senior consultancy advice to external customers
  3. Create and maintain positive, collaborative and supportive professional relationships with internal stakeholders and external customers, as well as actively generating and building relationships with new customers
  4. Be regarded as a trusted advisor to the customer’s senior team
  5. Provide a senior point of advice for internal staff in terms of the commercial and assignment management aspects of project delivery
  6. Actively generate opportunities and leads for future work through the ongoing development of professional networks of contacts across the NHS and care system, ensuring that these opportunities and leads are tracked on the pipeline and followed up as appropriate
  7. Horizon scan in order to identify development, growth and new business opportunities and turn these into active leads that are followed up with new and existing customer
  8. Be an expert in your allocated service improvement field and actively grow the specialism for mutual client and internal benefit
  9.  Support the team in the delivery of the overarching targets, and deliver a personal annual income target (tba)
  10. Identifying and establishing positive working relationships with appropriate partners for the delivery of consultancy projects

Experience Required:

  • Degree level educated or equivalent
  • Project and Programme Management Professional Qualifications (or equivalent experience)
  • Training in consultancy skills (or equivalent experience)
  • CIPS qualified (would be useful)
  • Independent leadership of complex contracting and service improvement initiatives
  • Negotiating and finalising contracts within legal constraints
  • Generic supply chain principles linked to the NHS landscape and current integration strategies
  • Experience dealing with complex negotiations on prices and contract terms in order to deliver savings and commercial value
  • Experience of developing complex contracting processes
  • Contracting or service redesign project management, preferably within healthcare
  • Significant experience of delivering and/or leading improvement projects
  • Experience of advising and supporting senior stakeholders, preferably service commissioners and clinical leaders
  • Comfortable operating in a fluid and evolving environment, being able to cope with ambiguity, work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and manage multi interfaces
  • Experience of working with and managing a diverse range of stakeholders, including clinicians, senior managers, front line staff, patient and their representative groups, and the ability to adapt style accordingly
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Good level of competence with Excel, Word and Power Point for analysing, communicating and presenting data and recommendations
  • Experience of process optimisation - mapping, analysing and improving
  • Strong BI / data analytical and presentation skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of NHS and best practice improvement methodologies.
