We are working with a Private Sector company based in Newcastle who are looking for a Senior Buyer on a permanent role with a salary of up to £40,000.00 on offer. This is an exciting role that will expose you to clients in both the Private and Public Sector helping to manage the complexity of challenges that faced for the companies clients for high value goods and services.

The Senior Buyer will be responsible for proving key support to the clients suppliers, buyers and internal network with a key objective to find suitable suppliers on their internal database to compete in mini competitions for work and where required to find new suppliers and register them with the client.

Key Tasks & Deliverables:

  • Working on 19 categories and 240 sub categories; you will conduct research across these specific categories and recruit suppliers to these
  • Monitor and advise on any issues which present risk or opportunity to the organisation
  • Monitor market trends, competitor strategies and market suppliers
  • Provide analysis on costs, new and existing and review cost reduction activities
  • Prepare reports and updates as and when required
  • To be the first point of contact as ‘Frontline Support’ for all supplier queries and general enquiries including: accreditations, technical Provide (system) support, shortlisting, process, and operational queries; this includes following up on references and reviewing case studies, and contacting suppliers directly when there are issues with their accreditation and reviewing insurance certificates
  • Work with Contract Specialists to ensure that supplier contracts are reviewed, uploaded to their profiles and signed by all relevant parties
  • Work with the Data Team to push for 100% compliance across the supply chain network
  • Work with suppliers to ensure that their profiles are kept up to date and compliant
  • Support with the acquisition of new suppliers during high volume periods
  • Work closely with Client Services Managers to ensure supplier shortlists are managed to fulfil client project requirements and that the suppliers selected are compliant at the point of tender submission
  • To manage the supplier services inbox and provide support with contact us inbox and forward or redirect queries from Hello
  • Support external stakeholders such as buyers on supplier / process queries
  • Conduct comprehensive reviews and audits on whole supplier community in line with KPIs and SLAs (TBC)
  • Monitor and update CRM system with supplier details / information / opportunity leads
  • Support Supplier Relationship Manager to intelligently target new suppliers through information gathering and market research

Experience Required:

  • Good understanding and / or exposure of working within public sector – ideally working in a similar role supporting Professional Services
  • You will be a self-starter and possess a strong analytical mindset
  • Provide business and market intelligence
  • Ability to utilise and interpret data visualisation approaches, techniques and methods
  • Educated to degree level
  • Studying / working towards or CIPs qualified
  • Logical approach to problem-solving
  • Demonstrable strong relationship building and communication skills across all levels
  • Ability to prioritise workload and work under pressure and to tight timeframes
  • Commercial acumen
  • Professional telephone manner with high emotional intelligence
  • Familiarity with Microsoft BI or data analytical tool sets
